No matter where we go in this world, we always take a part of our past with us. The place where we grow up is somewhere which always stays in our minds.
No matter where we go in this world, we always take a part of our past with us. The place where we grow up is somewhere which always stays in our minds. And so it was with understanding that I read the news that, for the first time since Poland joined the EU, more Poles have left the UK than have arrived. It looks like the tide is turning, and Poles, having spent some time here, have decided to return to their homes, families, and motherland. They are returning to the places where they feel they belong, even after many years in the UK. I grew up in a little town in the west of Scotland, but left many years ago now. In my quieter moments, and even when I dream, I am transported back there, to the places of my youth which will now always remain memories. But within my mind they are real, and give me the senses of comfort and security which only childhood memories can. All this, even though I still live in the same country! But for those immigrants who have travelled hundreds or even thousands of miles, often with little money and facing an uncertain future, the pull of home must be so much greater. And so for all of those who are leaving, I wish you all the best. I hope that your time here has been a happy one and that your lives will continue to prosper. And never forget also that you have left a part of yourself here, in the country which, I hope, has been a happy home for you for these past few years. With love, as ever, from the psychedelic monastery.
